This week’s inspiration is the phrase “let bygones be bygones”. Now this phrase originated in the 15th century when a Scottish churchman, Ness, was hoping that God would let his problems from his youth be bygone. Let bygones be bygones means letting yourself off the hook and letting other people off the hook for the mistakes they made or the harm they may have caused you.
We can all get stuck in the past, holding our resentments or anger from what somebody did to us. But if we let bygones be bygones, we can let ourselves and them off the hook, which is a much better way to live.
We need to be able to forgive others and to forgive ourselves and let ourselves off the hook. We’re going to make mistakes. We’re learning how to play this consciousness game, and it’s OK that we make mistakes and that others do too. But it’s time we let bygones be bygones and let ourselves and others off the hook. That’s why this week’s inspiration is let bygones be bygones. It’s all about self-love, people.
