Believe it or not, sometimes it is good to embrace ignorance.
I was recently talking with a friend about statistics. She was appalled over some statics she had heard concerning women. I won’t go over them here because I don’t want to put any limits or negativity in people’s heads but lets just they were grim.
The conversation got me thinking about the times I had dared to do things that I am sure if I had seen statistics on the chances of success, I may not have attempted to do them. Although knowing me, I probably would have. Luckily, I was ignorant of what the rest of the world thought about my chances of success and went for what I wanted at the time with no consideration of the odds against me.
I was not deliberately ignoring the “warnings” of my supposed impending doom. I was just oblivious to them. I knew what I wanted to do and just went for it without seeking council or “facts” to support my decision.
While some turned out not so good, many turned out much better than I had imagined. Even the times that at first appeared that it might not workout ended up putting me in an unexpected place where new opportunities presented themselves; opportunities that I would have missed if I had listened to the naysayers or the statics.
While I may have appeared naive or ignorant to some, that ignorance was a blessing.
As we all work to consciously co-create our personal realities, I think it is important not to let other people’s beliefs (this includes statics) deter you from the path you want to follow. You and only you are in charge of your life. It doesn’t matter how many before you failed. That was their story, not yours!
You are the author of your life’s story, so make it a good one. Make it one that defies all odds. And if that means you need to remain ignorant to do it, I say embrace the ignorance and go for your dreams!
Until next time be the light the world needs and stay in love for all.
