On the road to self-love, you will reawaken many gifts that you may have forgotten you possessed. One of these gifts is the ability to play and laugh. When is the last time you looked at play as sacred and included it as part of your daily practice of growth and awareness? Perhaps you believe that it is useless and only for children. Would you change your mind if you realized that the energies that are inherent in play are creativity, joy, being present in the moment, and trust? I think we can all agree that those traits are essential to our wholeness. So why isn’t play?
When I was going through a period of much loss and change, it was play and laughter that kept me breathing. As I said in my book, “Tears can be healing, but it is laughter that frees your spirit and causes you to fly above the pain. Even if it lasts just for a moment, it will remind you that you are still capable of joy.”
Next time you have the opportunity to play (and it should be daily), just observe your ability, or inability, to lose yourself in the energy. If you have trouble allowing yourself to play, investigate why. What fear or belief keeps you from participating in this sacred gift? Yes, pain can teach us much about ourselves but so can play. Give yourself over to this incredible energy. You will be amazed the positive impact it has on your life and your growth. Go ahead and make yourself laugh today. I dare you.
Until next time, be the light the world needs and stay in love for all.
