I will share the technique I did intrinsically to keep my faith that I would find my way out of the tough times. I was in a dark place where I feared I would never move forward again. So, I began to add to my meditations this technique – that I have been in dark times before – and got out of it. So, I began to look back to times in my life when I felt stuck, hopeless, or immovable like I did then.
I remembered when I left my partner and moved back to a studio apt. How hopeless I felt. And how at 31 years old, I felt too old for anything. But I did get out. I moved to Texas, and surprisingly I began to make short films in Louisiana. This revealed my resilience. Another time I needed to bounce back was when I had absolutely very little money. I had to pay a credit card down each month so that I had at least $25 available on it so I could buy groceries. That tough time of having no money almost took me down, but I again bounced back, and two years later, I was making over $150,000 a year.
So your spiritual homework for this month is to remember times when you found your resilience. Times were dark, but you kept moving forward, and life changed for you. You can do this in meditation or simply close your eyes and travel back to past times, times that were dark or fearful. Or perhaps suddenly something or someone appears out of the blue and points you in a different direction – a better direction.
Make this your goal for this month, even if you are not in dark times and especially if you are in dark times, to remember that you can overcome anything this life throws you because you have resilience at hand – and if the dark time is so heavy -literally weighing you down, you now know the technique you can do to remind yourself that you bounced back in the past – and you can do it again even if you don‘t know-how.
