Self-love matters! I want to tell you a story about two people who appeared identical in every way. That is until they hit a very rough period in their lives that shook them to their core. Now one of them felt that if only this or that could happen, she could be happy. Then she could feel safe again. First, she would play over and over in her head everything that had happened. Then she would imagine what bad thing might happen next. And when she woke up the next day and realized everything was the same as the day before, she would feel alone and afraid and unloved once again, and the pleading would start all over again as feelings of hopelessness would consume her throughout the day.
Now the other one was also very afraid and in pain. She cried over all the pain and fear she felt, but instead of stopping there and going to sleep as the other woman did, she would envision the part of herself that was begging and consumed with fear and pain and began to talk with her and offer her comfort. And when she woke up the next day and realized everything was the same on the outside as the day before, she, unlike the other woman, felt less afraid and less alone on the inside. She knew self-love matters. And she knew she could handle any feelings of hopelessness that might arise because she knew where to go inside of herself to reconnect to love and find peace.
These two women were identical in every way except for one main difference. One was rooted in self-love, and one was not. One felt abandoned by life and the universe when her life appeared to be falling apart. The other one knew she mattered because she had learned to treat herself –all of herself with love—self-love matters. Find out what you believe about self-love and ask yourself questions as I did in my book, The Heart of The Matter.

Until next time, be the light the world needs and have a love for all.
