Many people complain that other people do not respect them. I ask do you have self-respect, or are you looking for it from others? Unfortunately, many are looking for it from others. Everything starts with the self -self-love, including self-compassion, self-gratitude, and, yes, self-respect. Do you honor your feelings? What about your boundaries? Do you listen to what your mind is saying to you or your heart?
I had a friend who constantly complained that no one was listening to her over and over again. So I asked if she was listening to herself? To her inner loving voices and what they say to her? Do you honor her boundaries and not allow others to trample over them? Do you LISTEN to yourself? She finally nodded no. If you want others to listen to you and respect you, it starts with you doing it first. People only treat you the way you treat yourself. Period!
I suggest you go into meditation and see what you feel about self-respect because that will tell you a lot about your level of self-love too. Are you look for others to give it to you without you honoring it first in yourself? Do you break your boundaries over and over again because if you do, others will too? Are you following the inner prompting to do certain things -or is that too scary?
We all need to be respected by others, but how people treat us is determined by how we treat ourselves. So, if you want something to change in the outer world, you first must make changes in your inner world. Self-love means loving yourself, and that includes self-respect. Do You Have Self-Respect? Because if not, others will not respect you. So, it is time to love yourself openly and have it begin with a big dose of self-respect. You deserve nothing less!

Until next time, be the light the world needs and have a love for all.
