When you’re working on returning to self-love, you may have to throw yourself a pity party. A pity party is when you allow yourself to feel sorry for yourself. We all have those feelings, but most of us shove them down because we were told not to have them. But in truth, if you are feeling sad about your life, feeling sad about what’s happening to you, it’s OK to throw yourself a pity party. You don’t need to make it all day long but get into it. Feel what you’re feeling. Observe what you’re feeling and move into the emotions of feeling pitiful. Feel this as deeply as you can, and then shower yourself in love and know that you’re doing the work you need to do to get out of the pity. Feeling pitiful is part of growing, and it’s OK to throw yourself a pity party if you need it. It’s all about self-love people.
Note: The trick to having a pity party is ending with giving yourself love. Love transforms all energies. Feel sad, feel pitiful, but end with being showered in love. I used to envision a large goddess wrapping her arm around me. Or I would have kittens or puppies running up to me and loving me. The point is to love yourself!
