In this video, I share how I was fretting about what may happen when a friend reminded me that I always say that things can turn on a dime. Why not this? That made me think about this saying and what it has meant to me over the years. It means your life can change directions on the smallest of coins – a dime.
I share m nay instances where something happened out of the blue, and my life turned on a dime. For example, it was the out-of-the-blue call for a job when I was an actress. I could suddenly pay rent, and I felt necessary to the creative process. How suddenly my life changed when I took a 180-degree turn and wrote about my spiritual journey.
However, when I look back at times my life turned on a dime, I realize I had done the work beforehand to be ready. As an actress, I studied and went to every audition to be prepared for the unexpected call. When I wrote my non=fiction books, I looked back and saw that I had written films and scripts in the past. I remembered I had kept a journal for decades. While I did these things for different reasons, they prepped me for a far-off future of non-fiction writing.
Turning on a dime may mean your life suddenly changes, but it also means you need to do the work to be ready. Whether taking classes you love not knowing you will need it four years later. Or you are changing negative beliefs to be open to new possibilities. The miracle comes when you are ready, and then your life can turn on a dime.
