How well do you really know yourself?
“Living authentically” or “living my best version” has become a catch phrase in our culture. These ideas are no longer relegated to those of us in the new age or new spiritual- thought movements. The concept has gone mainstream. I can’t tell you how many ads I see playing on this idea. Live your best self, BUY this and it will get you there.
I hear it often used by people on TV who when pressed for what living their best version means, they fumble for the words. And nine times out of ten when they do give an answer it inevitable has more to do with presenting an image of strength. An image based on the ego’s idea of what authentic or best version means.
You cannot live your authentic self if you are afraid to look at all aspects of yourself. You cannot live your best version if you don’t know just how many versions of you exist and what triggers the various versions to jump into the driver’s seat.
Living your best version, or authentic self, means you HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO KNOW YOURSELF.
You have looked underneath your masks and safety nets. You have owned and understood your fears and pains and what they have driven you to do. You have taken back your power from your wounds and fear-based beliefs. You have looked in the mirror with compassion and forgiveness.
Living your best version, or authentic self, means you have chosen to love yourself, all the parts of yourself –the light and the dark, the positive and the negative, the strong and the weak. It is only through the honest acceptance of yourself can you begin to discover the truth of just how beautiful and magnificent you are.
Take yourself off auto-pilot and get to know yourself – really get to know yourself. I promise you, you will discover your true brilliance, and it will blow your mind open and unchain your heart putting your authentic self into the driver’s seat setting you on the road to living your best version every day.
Until next time be the light the world needs and stay in love for all.
